Homemade Headboard

I know I've mentioned several times that Kris is a great handyman, and I love that, and very thankful for his skillz.  He has been able to fix, install, and make a lot of things.

When we moved into this house we knew we wanted a king-size bed, which meant no headboard, because our prior bed was a qeeen.  Kris said, "I'll make one".
We've seen them do it on HGTV all the time, and it didn't look too hard.

I took a few pictures of the headboard making in process, but I lost the memory card to the camera.
Luckily that's all that was on there.

We bought a cheap wooden door at Lowe's.
Batting and fabric from Hobby Lobby.

Wrapped the batting and fabric around the door, and voila!

Ok, so there may have been more steps, but you get the idea.
The fabric is a faux leather, which I think turned out nicely.

I bought off Etsy a monogrammed wall decal of a K to place above the headboard, but handyman has been hesitant to hang that up.  Guess he's not looking forward to it, but I think it will complete the look.
I'll post a picture when that's been done.  :)

Thank you Kris for all you do into making our house a home.
XOXO

Sleepy Head

Jacob had a busy day yesterday with Meme.
Needless to say, he did not get a nap.

Kris and I were in the living room watching tv, and little man was in our room watching Thomas, or so we thought.
Kris got up and saw this.

He was tuckered out.
sidenote:  I was in the process of washing sheets, so that's why none is on the bed.
And the picture above shows a small glimpse of the headboard Kris (finally) made for our bed.
I plan to do a post on it if the bed ever gets made.  HA!

If you're a frequent reader, than you know Jacob has fallen asleep in our bed before.
Boy, looking at all these pictures would leave anyone to believe our bed never gets made.
I would like for it to.  I just don't make it a priority every morning.

Pampered Chef Purchase

A few weeks ago I went to a Pampered Chef Party at my sister Beth's house, and here is what I purchased:

Season's Best Cookbook
Chipotle Rub
Pie Server
Pink Tomato Knife

In support of breast cancer, I ordered the Pink Tomato Knife.  I adore the color!
I have used it on tomatoes, and I love it!  A perfectly cut slice every time.

When it's time to cut a pie, I always say I never have a good knife/server - now I do!

We made the chicken tacos that are pictured on the cookbook.  They were delish!

There's a joke now that I always get Kris some sort of kitchen item for our anniversary, birthday or father's day, etc...  Yes, I bought him Caphalon before.  He's the cook in the house!
This year will be no exception.  The rub is for him.  :)

The girls is so stinkin cute!
I saw it at Gymboree and just had to have it, plus it was on sale - even better!

Here is a closeup.

Here is Jacob just a few days old in his precious outfit.
Big shout out to Aunt B for giving it to us!

34 Weeks

Hey look, my first pregnancy picture for the blog.
At 34 weeks... just a tad behind.
Either my belly is huge (which it is) or my arms are way short.
I cannot reach my hands beneath that big 'ol belly.

I am so puffy too.  Ugh...
Actually, I enjoy being pregnant for the most part.
I will definitely miss it, however, I am so ready to know if it's a boy or girl!

Pregnancy Highlights:

How Far Along: 34 Weeks

Size of baby: roughly 5lbs.

Total Weight Gain:  haven't kept track, but I'm thinking 20lbs

Maternity Clothes: jeans/slacks are a MUST!  but i've got a few shirts that are not maternity

Gender: have no idea!!
Movement: constantly!  it's crazy how much s/he moves!  i love it!!!
What I miss: talking without running out of breath!

Sleep:  it's hit or miss

Best moment this week:  continuing to get waited on by Kris :)

What I am looking forward to: delivering!!

momma loves you sweet baby!

Craft Project Attempt

So I attempted a craft project.
Small for some, but big time for me.  :)

I don't have a creative bone in my body.
I'm not even creative enough to come up with this idea on my own - stole it from another blog.

I've never had an urge to decorate Jacob's room.  Again, I thank the lack of creativity.
We did buy him a full size bed, so I bought bedding with a sports theme.

I found a canvas print at Target to hang, then I saw the idea of getting wooden letters for his name, and then wrapping the letters with scrapbook paper - your theme of choice.
I bought sports theme paper.

So without further adieu, here is the finish product that we hung above his closet door:

The J is footballs, the A is football verbiage, the C resembles football leather, the O is baseballs, and the B is baseball verbiage.  I didn't use any basketball paper, I figured he will be too short for it.  HA!  :)

And here is my very own Handy Manny.  I stand corrected, he would like to be referred to as Bob the Builder instead.  :)

Little by little hopefully his room will come together.
Baby steps...  :)

Speaking of baby, we'll have to decorate a nursery in 5wks.
Or at least know if we need blues or pinks.  :)

Front Door Makeover (?)

I have never been a fan of our front door.  I always thought it looked 'dated'.
We looked into purchasing a brand new door and frame, but that was a little pricey.
We thought we'd try painting it black.

Here is the before:

Here is the after:

Kris did a wonderful job, and it didn't take him long at all.
However, I'm not sure if it goes with the white columns.
Regardless, it's too late now.

I'm sure it will grow on me.
Still thankful I married a handyman.

First and Second Born

Here is our little first born, Jacob.
I'm amazed how big he is getting.
He continues to learn new things and amazes us every day.
His little mind is a well-oiled machine.
He looks so big with this sucker.  And believe me, Dadddy kept an eye on him at all times.  :)

And let me introduce you to our soon-to-be second born (aka last).
I had an ultrasound on Thursday because I've been measuring ahead, which I still am.
The baby weighs a little over 5lbs, and with only 6wks left, we may not have a big baby afterall.
They are estimating another 8 pounder, like Jacob.

As soon as we saw this sweet face, tears filled our eyes, followed by laughter as Kris said, "baby's got my nose!".  Look at those chubby cheeks - guess he/she gets that from me.  HA!

Seeing this sweet face was so surreal.  I mean, I know we're having a baby, but this just gave us a small glimpse of what's to come.

Can't wait to meet you little one.
Momma & Daddy love you to the moon!

Happy Anniversary Lovebug!

Today is our 5th wedding anniversary!
We had a beautiful ceremony on a beautiful sunny day.
I was so thankful for the sunshine after having a few morning showers (talk about one nervous bride!).

Kris was one handsome groom, and my heart melt when I got to the end of the aisle and saw he had tears in his eyes.  So sweet!

It was great to be amongst family and friends.
I wouldn't change a thing.

Kris, I love you so much and I look foward to many more years together.
We go together like beans and carrots (inside joke).

My Little Honeydew

I'm entering the 8th month of this pregnancy, and I continue to say it's flying by.

According to the Chinese Gender Chart , we are having a girl.  :)
There are a lot of things with this pregnancy I'm experiencing that I didn't have with Jacob.
So maybe it is a girl.  :)

In 6 short weeks we'll know for sure!

Until then, I'll savor every moment of all the nudges, kicks and summersaults.
Kris has been able to see and feel all the crazy movement which makes me happy.
Jacob on the other hand wants nothing to do with my belly.  :)

Happy Mother's Day!

A Newborn's Conversation with God

A baby asked God, "They tell me you are sending me to earth tomorrow, but how am I going to live there being so small and helpless?"
God said, "Your angel will be waiting for you and will take care of you."

The child further inquired, "But tell me, here in heaven I don't have to do anything but sing and smile to be happy."

God said, "Your angel will sing for you and will also smile for you. And you will feel your angel's love and be very happy."

Again the small child asked, "And how am I going to be able to understand when people talk to me if I don't know the language?"

God said, "Your angel will tell you the most beautiful and sweet words you will ever hear, and with much patience and care, your angel will teach you how to speak."

"And what am I going to do when I want to talk to you?"

God said, "Your angel will place your hands together and will teach you how to pray."

"Who will protect me?"

God said, "Your angel will always talk to you about Me and will teach you the way to come back to Me, even though I will always be next to you."

At that moment there was much peace in Heaven, but voices from Earth could be heard and the child hurriedly asked, "God, if I am to leave now, please tell me my angel's name."

God said, "You will simply call her, "Mom."

Baby Names

Today at Kelly's Korner is share your kid's names, and how you and your partner decided on the name.
We honestly don't have an elaborate story of how we chose
JACOB STEWART
other than we both loved Jacob and Stewart is my maiden name.

Since it's just my sister and I, there was no way to continue the Stewart last name within my immediate family.
We both knew that if we had a boy that Stewart would be his middle name.  Well I had a boy first, so Jacob was the lucky one to receive that middle name.

I actually love the idea of women using their maiden name as a middle name.

Speaking names, Kris and I have not narrowed down baby #2's name.
We need both a boy and girl name since we don't know what we're having.

Here are a few we are considering:

LEVI SCOTT
Scott is Kris' middle name, so we know we want that as the boy's middle name.

or

EMMA PAIGE
or
CHLOE PAIGE
for a girl.

I don't think either one of us is 100% certain of either of these.  I don't know why it's been so difficult for us to decide.  I have a few names that I like, but they do not go with the last name Key (ugh!).

We have a little over 6wks to decide, so the clock is ticking.
I welcome any suggestions.  :)

Semi Celebrity Sighting

I had to go to the Walmart Home Office today for work and while I was in the lobby I noticed this guy.
Now, I'm pretty sure that 99% of you will not have a clue who he is.
Why I know who he is is another question.

The tv happened to be on CMT one day and a video was playing and I think it was Kris who recognized a Razorback in the video.  We also saw the names of a few towns in Arkansas in the video too.  This guy was singing and the song was "Small Town USA". He is from Poyen, AR (never heard of it).  I've heard this song on the radio a couple of times.  It is so twangy that I usually change the station (sorry Justin).

I suppose he was at Walmart to promote a new album, I dunno.
Oh well, I needed something to blog about...

I don't have a quick fix, don't feel like cooking, go-to frozen pizza, until now.
I buy all my groceries at Walmart, and have been trying to make a conscious effort to buy Great Value Brands when I know I can't tell a difference between that and the name brands.

I thought I would give this a try:

I loved it!  Thought the crust was delish!  Kris' words were "it doesn't taste like a frozen pizza."
Best part... it was only $3.98!

The crust definitely makes the pizza!
YUM-O!

Try it... you'll like it (as heard from Yo Gabba Gabba & Ni Hao Ki Lan)   :)
