Thought I'd give an update on sweet little Talbey.
The main focus at this point is still his kidneys.
He's able to drink, but still needs a feeding tube.
He has also began physical therapy.
One of the biggest highlights recently was to take a ride in a wagon.
First time to be out of his bed. Big brother Gavin (5) got to spend some time with him pulling him around.
You know Gavin misses his playing buddy.
Here is a cute tshirt they are selling to help with medical costs.
Also there was a fundraiser (Spirit Night) at our local Chick-Fil-A.
The turnout was impressive!! So many are supporting this sweet boy and his family.
I read on the facebook page that the staff at CFA was overwhelmed with how many were there but were very thankful for the organizers/volunteers how helped serve, clean tables, etc...
Here is Talbey and his mom, Kari, who finally got to hold him after 18 very long days.
I wanted to share so you could put a face to your prayer. :)
She is one of the nicest people you'll ever meet.
She owns a little boutique in town with the cutest things.
One of her most popular items is a hat with rosettes.
At the Spirit Night, a few of us wore ours :)
Levi was in a great mood. I think he's starting to develop his love for Chick-Fil-A like his brother :)
Also, for anyone who's interested, you can find 'Healing For Talbey' on facebook and read all the updates and give some encouragement to the family. There are also a couple of sweet videos.
We were assured by the organizers that it will happen and the 1,000 plus people will be boarding buses throughout Israel on schedule early Saturday. We arrived at the Arlozorov train station in Tel Aviv a bit early at 11:30 PM on Friday night to join up with the masses awaiting to board the many buses in line to depart.
The departure time that was communicated to the TA group was 1AM. We ended up leaving a bit after 3. Given the hordes of people, ID cards and paperwork to be checked, the operation ran very smoothly. While waiting, we bumped into friends, made new ones and connected with people on many levels.
We were all very excited (and tired), but the thought of disrobing for the sake of art and history was awakening! Yes. We were doing this for the sake of art and being part of history, but most importantly, we wanted to bring attention to the plight of the Dead Sea, a candidate for inclusion in the world-renowned list: The Seven Wonders of the World. At current estimates, the Dead Sea will disappear within 50 years due to its draining resources by companies looking to exploit it for the sake of money.
Russian tycoon Alexander Lebedev has punched a fellow billionaire on a television panel show after a discussion on the financial crisis degenerated into petty name-calling.
Ledebev, a former KGB operative and owner of two major newspapers in the United Kingdom, wrote on his blog that property developer Sergei Polonsky had earned the clobbering by behaving abusively throughout the recording of the program.
In a preview clip posted on the NTV channel's website ahead of the show airing Sunday, Polonsky is seen saying that he sometimes felt like "bashing (Lebedev) in the face," prompting the newspaper owner to jump to his feet.
A vintage World War II-era fighter plane plunged into the grandstands Friday during a popular annual air show, killing at least three people, injuring more than 50 spectators and creating a horrific scene strewn with body parts and smoking debris.
The plane, flown by an 80-year-old pilot, spiraled suddenly out of control and appeared to disintegrate upon impact. Bloodied bodies were spread across the area as people tended to the victims and ambulances rushed to the scene.
Maureen Higgins of Alabama, who has been coming to the show for 16 years, said the pilot was on his third lap when he lost control.
She was sitting about 30 yards away from the crash and watched in horror as the man in front of her started bleeding after a piece of debris hit him in the head.
"I saw body parts and gore like you wouldn't believe it. I'm talking an arm, a leg," Higgins said "The alive people were missing body parts. I am not kidding you. It was gore. Unbelievable gore."
Among the dead was pilot Jimmy Leeward, 80, of Ocala, Fla., who flew the P-51 Mustang named the "Galloping Ghost," according to Mike Houghton, president and CEO of Reno Air Races.
Renown Medical Center spokeswoman Kathy Carter confirmed that two others died, but did not provide their identities.
Stephanie Kruse, a spokeswoman for the Regional Emergency Medical Service Authority, told The Associated Press that emergency crews took a total of 56 injury victims to three hospitals. She said they also observed a number of people being transported by private vehicle, which they are not including in their count.
Kruse said of the total 56, at the time of transport, 15 were considered in critical condition, 13 were serious condition with potentially life-threatening injuries and 28 were non-serious or non-life threatening.
U.S. Women's soccer team were ever to use a Major League Soccer team's training facilities to prepare for an international friendly -- like, say, the one this Saturday against Canada -- then everyone would obviously assume that one of the MLS players would serenade one of the ladies on the national team. Obviously.
The only unexpected part of the unavoidable scenario would be which of the talented females would be the focal point. Would it be the striking tandem of Alex Morgan or Abby Wambach? Perhaps it would midfielder Megan Rapinoe?
Alas, C.J. Sapong of Sporting Kansas City only has eyes -- and rhymes -- for Hope Solo. After admiring the U.S. goalie from afar all summer long, the KC striker got his chance to make an impression earlier this week and let's just say, he was on target.
Sapong had written a poem for the upcoming "Dancing With The Stars" contestant. Although the Virginian rookie had a rough start to his delivery, having to start over at one point, his rapping and inspired wordplay seemed to impress Solo and her teammates, especially one of his closing lines.
"If angels really do exist then girl you are the proof. Hope Solo, Hope Solo, can you make my dream come true? There are no beaches in KC, but a hug from you will do."
Solo made Sapong's day and not only gave him a hug, but swept him off his feet with a kiss on the cheek.
An elderly woman crashed her red Cadillac into Rock 'n Road Cyclery Tuesday around 5 p.m., forcing customers to dodge out of the way. (See video above).
"I thought it was a terrorist attack," store manager John Bain said. "It sounded like multiple explosions."
Those sounds were the car smashing through the store, first through the glass windows of the entrance, then through displays of health protein and other products, and finally stopping with a crash into the store's dressing room.
No one was seriously hurt, although one woman was grazed by the car.
New Zealand beat Japan 83-7 to move clear atop its Rugby World Cup group with the maximum points from its opening two matches.
The All Blacks scored 13 tries, with 11 different players touching down. Richard Kahui and Sonny Bill Williams got two tries each in Hamilton. Hirotoki Onozawa got Japan’s only try in the 58th minute.
New Zealand is rated the bookmakers’ favorite to win the 20-nation tournament it is hosting and snap a 24-year title drought. It has 10 points atop Pool A ahead of France, which plays Canada in two days. All Blacks coach Graham Henry criticized his squad after the 41-10 opening win against Tonga.
I bought both the music CD and DVD to the songs they sang that week.
We (Jacob and myself) have every.single.song.memorized. Not kidding, all 10 of them!
Oh, and there's hand motions, and we know those too!
We listen and/or watch every day!
Funny story: We listen to the CD in the car on the way to school.
When I pick Jacob up in the afternoons he remembers what song was playing from the morning and asks me if we can finish song # ___. How does he remember this?!?! :)
He was singing this song so sweetly, then when I got the video camera out he decided to be silly. Go figure!
I hope this makes you smile as it does my heart!! :)
CNN Tea Party debate, one of the most memorable exchanges occurred between frontrunners Rick Perry and Michele Bachmann over the HPV vaccine Perry mandated in Texas.
While the other candidates did their fair share of attacking Perry, Bachmann insisted that Perry's mandate, which called for girls aged 11 and 12 to get the vaccine to prevent an STD that causes cancer, is morally "flat out wrong" and said she was told it causes mental retardation.
"Bachmann is always strongly pro-choice," Colbert concluded. "As long as that choice is cervical cancer."
Sometimes it can be a scary moment, where you quickly move out of the way (whether or not your girlfriend knows what's coming). And sometimes the fan has to make a decision between the foul ball or his or her kid.
Or, fans can take the nonchalant route and not let the line drive phase them at all. That's what the Rangers fan in the video below did in Wednesday's game against the Cleveland Indians.
In the very first inning, Rangers second baseman Ian Kinsler hit a scorching line drive to the stands on the first base side. A fan talking on his cell phone, very casually, stuck out his gloved hand and caught the ball, while continuing his phone conversation.
He's been putting a lot of things on his head and walking around the house. He found one of Kris' ballcaps.
Jacob started swimming classes this week. He loves wearing his goggles. :)
We've been walking in the evenings since the weather has cooled off, and we remembered we had this little car that was Jacob's for Levi to now ride in. He loved it, and Jacob loved pushing him.
Here is Jacob in it back in 2008. This little baby grew up too fast!
